Marisa Wood - Statement On Kevin McCarthy: Keep Your Hands To Yourself
Bakersfield, CA - Today, Marisa Wood, a public school teacher, mother, and grandmother, with years of modeling appropriate behavior and the controlling of emotions for her students was both appalled and ashamed that a member of Congress could not follow a societal norm: the imperative to keep one's hands to oneself. While she sees this behavior everyday in her junior high students, she would expect maturity from the Congressman representing her district.
Marisa Wood said, “As citizens and leaders, we expect a level of professionalism, decorum, and respect within the hallowed halls of our Capitol. Physical contact and aggression should be limited to appropriate and consensual interactions, and any deviation from this standard is not only unbecoming but also undermines the public's confidence in the individuals elected to represent them.”
She continued, “Considering the former speaker's alignment with Trump and those that within these very halls were involved in the events of January 6, what more can we expect? I call on Representative Kevin McCarthy, along with all members of the Capitol community, to reflect on the significance of their actions and commit to upholding the highest standards of conduct. The public places their trust in elected officials to exemplify leadership, integrity, and respect, and any transgressions against these principles are deeply concerning."
Marisa Wood believes we deserve better and is committed to teaching her future fellow congress members how to behave in public. She will be a model representative for the 20th Congressional District.
